Executive Director

Position Title:

Rural Whole Health Coalition Director (Executive Director)

Location:

404 Fawcett St., Smithville, Texas

Compensation:

$85,000 annually (grant-funded)

November 1, 2025 (includes right-seat-ride onboarding)

Employment Term:

Grant-funded, continuation dependent on funding

The Rural Whole Health Coalition Director (RWHC) will be a visionary, dynamic leader who can grow and guide the Coalition’s staff, ensure sustainability, and serve as the public ambassador for this regional effort.

 

Reporting to the RWHC Board of Directors/Steering Committee, the Director leads the Coalition in its mission to expand access to mental health, primary health, and financial health services for families in rural Central Texas.

Responsibilities include: vision-setting, partnership development, advocacy, fundraising, strategic and financial planning, talent management, and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Set vision, develop partnerships, and engage with partners regularly.

  • Build an advocacy ethos and secure funding through adaptive leadership.

  • Engage the Steering Committee, Workgroups, and staff in advancing the Coalition’s mission.

  • Lead and facilitate using the five tenets of Collective Impact:

     

    1. Common agenda

    2. Shared data/measurement

    3. Mutually reinforcing activities

    4. Continuous communication

    5. Effective support staff

 
Operations, Staffing & Reporting

  • Manage operational challenges and develop comprehensive solutions.

  • Recruit, retain, and oversee staff and consultants (with Board approval).

  • Develop systems to keep the Board, Steering Committee, and Workgroups informed.

  • Provide regular progress reports on budgets, goals, and performance indicators.

  • Present RWHC’s work at conferences and community events.

 
Financial Management & Fundraising

  • Serve as financial steward; manage budget and report monthly to the Board.

  • Lead fundraising by cultivating donors, writing grants, and securing revenue.

  • Maintain effective relationships with the Fiscal Sponsor.

  • Oversee reporting to funders and ensure compliance.

 
Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a strong, neutral facilitator to guide partners toward consensus.

  • Support Workgroups and align partner activities to the Common Agenda.

  • Build relationships with cross-sector leaders (healthcare, education, civic, business, nonprofit).

  • Develop RWHC’s identity as a respected, neutral convener.

  • Foster trust and participation from diverse communities across the four-county service area.

  • Plan and facilitate Board, Steering Committee, and Workgroup meetings.

 
Shared Strategy & Measurement

  • Oversee development of a shared measurement system.

  • Track and report collective outcomes and indicators.

  • Use data to inform learning and continuous improvement.

  • Support qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.

  • Keep stakeholders informed on priorities, goals, and results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in business, education, policy, or related field, OR 5+ years relevant experience.

  • Minimum 3 years managing teams in nonprofit, education, social enterprise, or business.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team development skills.

  • Advanced strategy, planning, and financial management experience.

  • Strong data and project management acumen.

  • Proven success in fundraising and donor cultivation.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficient in technology and remote-work tools.

 
Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Collective Impact framework.

  • Project management experience.

  • Familiarity with rural Central Texas communities.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

 
Reporting Relationships
RWHC recently received its 501(c)(3) status and continues to operate under a Fiscal Sponsorship until financially independent.
 

  • The Coalition Director reports directly to the Board of Directors.

  • The Fiscal Sponsor serves as the employer of record and financial fiduciary.

  • All support staff report to the Director, who manages day-to-day operations.
